Nori with rice and fillings, tightly rolled and sliced — a true classic.
Ingredients (2–3 rolls)
- 3 sheets nori, 2 bowls rice
- Danmuji (pickled radish), burdock strips
- 1/2 cucumber, 1/2 carrot, 2 eggs
- Ham or surimi (optional)
- Salt, sesame oil, sesame seeds
Season the rice
- 1/3 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- A pinch of sesame
Method
- Season warm rice with salt, sesame oil, and sesame seeds.
- Deseed cucumber, cut into sticks; julienne carrot and sauté lightly.
- Make a thin egg omelette and slice into strips.
- Spread rice thinly on nori, add fillings, roll tightly; seal edge with a little sesame oil.
- Slice and sprinkle with sesame.
